Great article! In my neighborhood, we already have a great real-life avatar of aging while engaging in most of the habits you describe.
Our neighbor, Bill, just turned 88 years old. We call him "The Mayor" of our little neighborhood, because he always seems to know what's going on with every single one of us. How does he know? Two reasons: (1) He does an hour-long walk around the neighborhood every single morning, rain or shine, and (2) he's shamelessly nosy (read: engaged). So Bill always knows when the nearby water main is leaking, when my Carolina Jessamine is blooming, and the details of all in-process home modifications in our area -- and he gossips shamelessly to everyone, about all of it.
The recent "surprise party" for his 88th was attended by both residents and former residents of our neighborhood, who remember him fondly.
Bill is a great example of aging for all of us, and proof that the habits you describe are right on.

How do I find enthusiasm?
