Yes, here’s the rub! Appetite vs. no appetite. I cannot just eat for eating’s sake. When I am hungry I crave
tasty food, but when I am not hungry I am just turned off by the thought of eating for eating’s sake. And sometimes I just feel “full” on a small amount of food. A dilemma!
I hear you. Hitting protein goals feels easy when you’re hungry, impossible when you’re not. Small, protein dense foods help more than forcing big meals.
I appreciate the detail… my ‘decent’ health status is showing signs of needing attention, including diet. I gave up ice cream for a combo of cottage cheese along with a spoonful of fruit preserves, but now it’s necessary to cut back on sugar, so frozen blueberries with the cottage cheese will hopefully be okay.
I have a very small appetite, and it's difficult to meet 60 grams of protein a day. Protein shakes are a great option, but I have to take a break from them sometimes. But I do my best, and your suggestions are helpful. Thank you.
Totally get that. Small appetites make it hard. Even little things like yogurt, eggs, cheese, or tuna throughout the day can add up. And yeah, needing a break from protein shakes is real. You’re doing your best, and that matters!
Yes…but what about constipation? If I ate what you recommend I would go to the washroom once a week. You will say fibre fiber fiber. But it is difficult to get enough of it. Is a natural laxative like Senekot once in a while the answer. I am writing this while sitting on a beautiful Japanese toilette without success.
I love this!! This is soooo very true!!! I’m almost 66 and compete in power lifting!! I eat up to 80 grams a day!! It has turned into muscle. The hard part is eating enough calories!!! I don’t get hungry.

Same here, I do fairly well with breakfast and lunch. By dinner I'm tired and have no appetite. Protein shakes and powders are not for me.

Great info! Thank you! I found the information was more useful when you converted grams to ounces and cups in the latter part of your article.
Thanks, Jan! That’s really helpful feedback. I’ll keep adding cups and ounces alongside grams going forward.

That’s awesome! Sounds like you’ve really figured out what works for your body.
